The Kensington Car Club: End of Summer Drive

Posted by Craig Schroeder on

The Kensington Car Club, created by our very own Aaron Pierce, is more than just a car club. It's not your cars & coffee type of car club, members actually take to the roads and drive their cars like they should be driven. In the waning days of summer, the club headed to Victory Brewing to show off their new engine upgrades and one member, founder Aaron Pierces, his new Audi S4.  Enjoy the views from this last drive.

The Local Intel: Moderne Gallery

At Commonwealth Proper,  we love to discover local places/brands that represent some of the same things we do, dedication to a craft, bringing Made in America back, or highlighting people that are changing the landscape in their own industries. This is our Local Intel series that tell the stories of these people and brands.  We take a look into the world of Moderne Gallery, a gallery and showroom in North Philadelphia which has been internationally renowned for it's high quality, vintage 20th-century furniture, lighting, and accessories starting from 1984. Focusing on the work of George Nakashima, Moderne Gallery became known as one of...

Behind the Lights: Christopher Poehlmann of CP Lighting

Recently, our showroom got a little upgrade in the form of custom lighting fixtures from Chris Poehlmann of CP Lighting.  The chandelier and pendants lamps that now sit as the centerpiece of our lobby and down through the hallway are reminiscent of PickUpSticks and now brighten up our space. We had the chance to visit Chris in his West Philly workshop which also seems to double as a mid-century modern museum full of one off pieces, all which come with a great story behind them. During this visit we also got to capture Chris in one of the most unique suits we have...

The Vitale Barberis Canonico Fabric Mill

One of the most important steps in creating a custom made to measure garment is picking the correct fabric for the occasion. This can often be a daunting process because there are a variety of materials like wool, linen, cotton, seersucker, and silk, and these all have their very own unique properties. We do things differently here at CMMP.  We curate every single fabric that's in our showrooms.  We import fabric from the best mills in the world, including Vitale Barberis Canonico, an iconic woolen mill in Italy.  We had the opportunity to visit the the mill itself, located in Biella, Italy, the Wool...
